Looking for a Gliding Club in the Bay Area?
The Hollister Gliding Club, with whom we share our office, is a commercial club that provides glider flight training out of the Hollister Airport. They have no membership fees. Bay Area Soaring Associates is a private club (for licensed glider pilots only) that is also located on the Hollister Airport. Another private club is the Northern California Soaring Association and they are located on the Byron Airport.

Why are scenic glider rides considered one of the safest ways to fly?
Scenic glider rides are considered one of the safest ways to fly because we only fly in good weather conditions, we do not have complex control systems, we always fly with in a safe gliding distance to the airport, the gliders are flown by FAA certified commercial pilots who must maintain strict FAA flight currency requirements, the gliders are all FAA certified for commercial glider ride use and the gliders are maintained by FAA certified aircraft mechanics to strict FAA maintenance inspection requirements. Be careful on your drive to the Hollister Airport; this is statistically the riskier part of your adventure.
